About MedXMentor

MedXMentor is a hybrid mentorship program launched on 25th February 2022, targeting future health science professionals who are the future backbone of Africa's health sector. Over the last ten months, we have made significant strides in achieving our objectives. First, we completed our first cohort with 22 mentors and 45 mentees. Second, our mentees successfully launched personal projects on personal branding and applied for research grants under the guidance of our mentors. Third, we have established partnerships with medical institutions in 5 countries in Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria. These countries are going to have MedXMentor chapters established with 14 ambassadors already selected through a rigorous process, trained and steps for establishment underway. Fourth and last, we conducted a baseline survey on access to and relevance of mentorship amongst Health professional students in Uganda which we are working to extend to Africa, steps are also underway to establish the role of structured mentorship in Africa.

To functionalize working student-led hybrid mentorship programs to foster leadership, community engagement, and professional career development.
To help young health professional students find mentors and actively engage with mentors in professional development, career choices, and skills development.
To create an engaging community of mentors for health professional students.
To spread the idea of mentorship among students and youth pursuing careers in the health sector through engaging in meaningful discussions about mentorship.
